So, the Sony PlayStation Showcase event happened on the 9th of September 2021 and boy was it a doozy. Incase you were like me and somehow completely missed it. The entire event is available at the link below, also it is unfortunately age restricted due to the violent nature of some games that were shown.
Having decided not to attend E3 this year, the showcase event was a highly anticipated one. As it promised to showcase what was next for the PS5 in terms of first party & third party games.
But if you are only interested in some of the games that were shown at the event then below Is the list of games along with their respective trailer/teasers:
- Star Wars
- Project Eve
- Tina’s Wonderland
- Forespoken
- Rainbow Six Extraction
- Alan Wake Remastered
- Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online
- Ghostwire: Tokyo
- Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy
- Bloodhunt – Vampire of Masquerade
- Deathloop
- Kid A Mnesia Exhibition
- Tchia
- Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
- Marvel’s Wolverine
- Gran Turismo 7
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- God of War Ragnarok
So, without any further dilly-dally lets drive right in. The start of the event was a bit weird, if I am being honest as it looked as if we were about to get a live action chess game or something on those lines?
But as it kept going, it felt a bit off to be an actual game and more of an ad for PlayStation and sure enough, it turned out to be a very elaborate ad for PlayStation – Play has no limits.

Games shown at Sony PlayStation Showcase Event
A list of games shown at the event along with their trailer/ teaser.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake for the PS5
The very brief teaser had no exact release date but I guess if you had to remake a star wars game for the new generation then why not the most popular one of all time.
Project Eve for the PS5
The new IP comes from South Korean game developer’s Shift Up, which brings about a fast pace third person action adventure feeling most commonly seen in Platinum studio games like Bayonetta & Metal Gear Rising. The Si-Fi Goth monster mash didn’t have a reveal date but fans of such type of games would have an eye out for when it actually drops on the console.
Tina’s Wonderland for the PS4 & PS5
Well, it is what it exactly sounds like? A first person shooter set in a D&D fantasy setting inside the borderlands universe. I mean by now you already know if you’re on board with the Borderland’s style of humour and gameplay. The game drops on the 25th of March 2022
Forespoken for the PS5
This was quite a pleasant surprise from developer Square Enix. The game is a third person action adventure set in a fantasy & modern setting. The gameplay what they have shown looks fun, fluid and fast. It is slated for a spring 2022 release and it is definitely one of those games to keep an eye on.
Rainbow Six Extraction for the PS4 & PS5
This is definitely one of those types of games, where someone would shout into the headset “Play your Class” but either way Rainbow Six Extraction looks like it could be a lot of fun with the right group of friends. The game is expected to drop in January 2022.
Alan Wake Remastered for the PS4 & PS5
The X-Box series classic finally makes it debut on the PlayStation platform. Horror fans who have not experienced this game on the X-Box back in the day, will be able to get their hands on the game this October when the game drops (5th Oct 2021).
Grand Theft Auto V & GTA Online for the PS5
Slowly but surely GTA V has now become this generations Skyrim where eventually even your fridge will be able to play GTA V. This highly popular game that was originally launched in 2013 for the PS3 is now being ported on the PS5. If for whatever reason you missed out playing this game in the last 8 years, then you can definitely experience the PS5 version in March 2022.
Ghostwire: Tokyo for the PS5
This is the kind of weird / scary / uncomfortable stuff you expect to come out of a Japanese game’s studio (Tango Gameworks). The main protagonist is seen dealing with flighting ghosts in what is the heart of Tokyo city and the character design of the enemies in the game look straight out of a Horror anime / manga series. This timed PS5 exclusive is scheduled to drop in spring 2022.
Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy for the PS4 & PS5
Well at this point you are either onboard with the marvel mania or you are fully saturated and honestly don’t care. Developer Edios-Montreal take on the marvel’s movie franchise is more closer to the source material (comic book) rather than the adapted movies. So, if you are coming to this game looking to find your favourite intergalactic crew voiced and modelled after their movie counterparts then this game is definitely not that. The game comes out on October 26th 2021.
Bloodhunt -Vampire the Masquerade for the PS5
Bloodhunt is the free to play battle royal mode set in the Vampire the Masquerade universe. The class-based battle royal drops sometime later this year.
Deathloop for the PS5
It’s not every time you see a Microsoft bought game studio release their game on their competing platform. But luckily for all us Microsoft decided to honour Arkane studio’s deal with Sony before their were bought my Microsoft and release Deathloop as a timed exclusive for the PS5. The game officially released on 14thSeptember 2021 to overwhelmingly positive reviews making it one of the best games out on the PS5 right now.
Kid A Mnesia Exhibition for the PS5
Ummm …. Yeah, whatever this thing is? I mean your guess is as good as mine. For context I have just copied the description what was below the PlayStation video “An upside-down digital/analogue universe created from original artwork and recordings to commemorate 21 years of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac. Coming in November 2021”.
Tchia for the PS4 & PS5
This one was pleasant surprise, a type of game that my daughter and I could really get behind and the warp mechanic that the games show off in the trailer seems like a lot of fun. This little gem is expected to drop some time in 2022.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection for the PS5
Well, we knew at some point this was going to happen and sure enough it did. One big collection of all the Uncharted games every to have been released. The remastered collection comes out in early 2022.
Marvels Wolverine for the PS5
Now this came totally out of left field, I mean way out of. You mean to tell me the same guys that made the Spider-Man and Spider-Man – Miles Morales game and now going to take a stab at everyone favourite hack and slash grump mutant. Heck Yeah sign me up. Sadly, the wait for this will be a long one as this game has no release date for now.
Gran Turismo 7 for the PS5
Sure, the X Box has Forza and the PlayStation we have the Gran Turismo series. The cars are really shiny, the tracks are wet, the tyres are very round and there are many cars to choose from and drive on real tracks. Every sim racer’s dream come true, lets hope that Gran Turismo doesn’t disappoint. It comes out on the 4th of March 2022.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for the PS5
I mean after the huge success of Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales games; it was given that we would eventually get more Spiderman from Insomniac Games. But what a setup for the next one, a sure treat for Spider-Man fans and third person action games alike. 2023 can’t come soon enough cause Insomniac Games has some treats in store for the future.
God of War Ragnarök for the PS4 & PS5
Last but definitely not the least, a deeper look into Karto’s next adventure and what looks like to be a conclusion for the Norse Saga? The trailer had a bit of everything and has me in particular very excited to play this when it comes out in 2022.
There was also a brief 15-minute post show interview that is worth watching as it gives a little deeper look into some of the games that were shown in the main show.
In conclusion what a showing Sony, there was something there for almost everyone and the promise of games to come in the near & far future. Which is a good thing because it hopefully gives us mortals enough time to try and get our hands on the PS5 by 2022 or 2023 without having to sell our souls.
